Local SEO services get a business into the map results and the local listings people see when they search for what it does nearby. Local SEO for small business comes down to three things Google names itself: how well your profile matches the search, how far you are from the searcher, and how well known you are. Ours are part of Growth, at $149 a month with the website included. We complete and manage your Google Business Profile while you stay the owner, keep your business details identical across the directories Google and the AI assistants check, ask every customer for a review within Google's rules, and build the local pages that rank in your area. Each month you see your map rankings, profile views and the calls your profile brought in. It is one of the larger searches in our field: 8,100 a month in the United States for local SEO services, and searches for a local SEO agency rose 39% in a year (our research, September 2026).
What do our local SEO services include?
| The work | What it does | How you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile management | Categories, services, hours, attributes and photos completed and kept current; you stay the owner | Profile views and calls, monthly |
| Consistent listings | The same name, address and phone number on Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Yelp, Foursquare and the directories that matter in your field | Listed in your report |
| Review requests | Every customer asked, by a link, with no incentive and no filtering | Ratings on five platforms, in your dashboard |
| Local pages | A page for each service and the area it serves, written for the searches people make there | Published on your site |
| Keyword research | The local searches worth winning, measured, not guessed | In your first report |
| Call tracking | Which channel each call came from: the map, the website or an ad | Live, in your dashboard |
Local citation services, which list a business consistently across directories, are sold separately by many agencies; here they are part of the same plan.
How does Google rank local businesses?
Google publishes the answer, and it rules out the shortcut first: "There's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking on Google." The ranking itself rests on three factors: "Local results are mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity." On the third, which it also calls prominence, Google says the factor is "also based on info like how many websites link to your business and how many reviews you have. More reviews and positive ratings can help your business's local ranking" (Google Business Profile Help, Tips to improve your local ranking, read 28 September 2026). Distance is fixed. Google Maps SEO therefore works on the other two: a profile that matches the searches you want, and the reviews, links and mentions that make you well known.
How does Google Business Profile optimization work?
By doing what Google's own guide asks, completely, and then keeping it true. Verify the business, choose the most specific categories, list every service, keep regular and holiday hours right, add photos, and reply to reviews; Google's reasoning for the last is that "when you reply to customer reviews, it shows that you value their feedback" (Google Business Profile Help). Our Google Business Profile management service does all of it as a manager on your profile: you stay the owner, and we remove ourselves within seven days if you leave.
How do you get more Google reviews without breaking the rules?
Ask every customer, make it easy, and never pay for it. Google's method is simple: "To leave reviews, you can ask customers to visit a Google link or scan a QR code." Its limit is strict: "Offering incentives, like free or discounted goods or services, in exchange for customers to post reviews, change reviews, or remove negative reviews is considered fake & misleading content and is strictly prohibited" (Google Business Profile Help, Tips to get more reviews).
In the United States it is also federal law. The FTC's rule on reviews makes it a violation "for a business to provide compensation or other incentives in exchange for, or conditioned expressly or by implication on, the writing or creation of consumer reviews expressing a particular sentiment, whether positive or negative" (16 CFR Part 465, section 465.4). So our review requests go to every customer, not only the happy ones, and offer nothing in return.
How do you choose a local SEO agency?
By what you will own and what you will see. Whichever local SEO company you hire, ask for these in writing before you pay:
- Will I stay the owner of my Google Business Profile, with you added as a manager?
- Which directories will you list me on, and will the listings be in my name?
- How will you ask for reviews, and do you offer customers anything for them?
- Which searches will you track, and what will the monthly report show?
- What stays mine when I leave?
Ours: you own the profile and every listing, reviews are asked for within the rules above, and the report is in your dashboard every month. Growth is $149 a month with the website included, and our AI SEO services are part of the same plan. See pricing or start with a free homepage design.
Common questions
- What do local SEO services include?
- Managing your Google Business Profile while you stay the owner, the same business details on every directory that matters, review requests to every customer, local pages for each service and area, keyword research, call tracking and a monthly report of your map rankings and profile calls.
- Can you pay Google for a better local ranking?
- No. Google says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Local results rest on relevance, distance and how well known a business is, so the work is a complete profile, consistent listings, reviews and links.
- Is it allowed to ask customers for Google reviews?
- Yes, and Google suggests a link or a QR code. What is prohibited is offering anything in return for a review, and in the United States the FTC's rule on reviews also bars paying for reviews that express a particular sentiment.
- Will I still own my Google Business Profile?
- Yes. You stay the owner and we are added as a manager, so we can do the work without holding the profile. We remove ourselves within seven days if you leave.
